Architectural Firm Selected for Challenger Learning Center of Northeast Alabama

The Challenger Learning Center of Northeast Alabama Advisory Council has selected Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood (GMC) of Huntsville, Alabama, pending contract negotiations to design, engineer, and oversee the construction of the Challenger Learning Center building in Rainbow City, Alabama.

GMC is one of the region's most significant architectural and engineering firms, with offices across the Southeast. They are equipped to provide all the services associated with architecture, interior design, civil engineering, environmental services, landscape architecture, planning, geotechnical engineering, and electrical engineering. GMC has significant experience designing schools, parks, hospitals, and other commercial developments.

The future Challenger Learning Center will be part of a network of 35 Challenger Learning Centers across 24 states and three countries, reaching more than 6 million students worldwide. Challenger Learning Centers offer a variety of hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programs, with the core being its simulated space-themed missions in fully immersive SpaceCraft, Mission Control, Briefing, and Transport rooms. The future Challenger Learning Center will serve students in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, DeKalb, Etowah, Marshall, St. Clair, and northern Jefferson counties.
